Comcater was founded back in 1979 by Kevin Wood and wife Nancy. Kevin’s vision for the company was a simple one: to find and distribute world class foodservice equipment to improve and innovate foodservice in Australia. Kevin saw food and eating out as a way to share and communicate with family, a vision that drives the entire company to this day. In order to make this happen, Kevin travelled the world to find equipment solutions that were yet to be brought into the Australian marketplace, and in doing so in 1986 Comcater was appointed the Australian the first distributor of the world’s first combi steamer, RATIONAL, among other leading product innovations such as Frymaster Deep Fryers and Garland Ranges.
Kevin was concerned with far more than just growing the Comcater business: he wanted to grow the entire industry for the benefit of all. He was instrumental in the creation of the National Association of Foodservice Equipment Suppliers (NAFES), which focuses on bringing together specialist suppliers to educate and enhance the standing of the industry through ethical business practices. NAFES also offers an accreditation program, the Certified Foodservice Professional Program (CFSP).
Kevin’s passion for foodservice and desire to educate and innovate the industry led to Comcater being the first equipment supplier in Australia to open a demonstration kitchen. Today, Comcater has demonstration kitchens in almost every state in Australia, in addition to regularly running training and demonstrations across the country through our vast network of equipment dealers.
This desire to demonstrate and educate the end user on our equipment has resulted in Comcater employing more qualified chefs on staff than any other foodservice equipment supplier in Australia. From menu creation to staff training, our team of highly qualified chefs offer unmatched pre and post-sale support to help any business big or small introduce innovation to their foodservice operation.
Answering the need to better support end users of our equipment, Comcater founded its own Service Department in 2008. Today, our Service Department is made up of over 250 Service Agents offering full kitchen support including breakdowns and planned maintenance programs Australia Wide. We also have a 24/7 National Support Contact Line, a Spare Parts Team and a Technical Support Team to ensure we can assist you with advice and parts as efficiently as possible.
